    Accessibility statement

    We want everyone to be able to use this website comfortably, including people who use a keyboard, screen magnification, a screen reader or other assistive technology. This statement explains what we have checked so far and what is still to do.

    Our aim

    We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We do not yet claim full conformance, because some checks still need to be carried out by people using real assistive technology.

    What we have tested

    In October 2026 we tested the home page, contact page, consultation booking page, the application form support page and this page, on desktop and mobile screen sizes. Testing included:

    • automated checks against WCAG 2.2 level A and AA rules;
    • measuring colour contrast for text, links and focus outlines;
    • using every form and menu with a keyboard only, checking that focus is always visible;
    • inspecting how form fields, dropdowns and tick boxes are named and described to assistive technology;
    • checking that form errors are announced and that focus moves to the first problem.

    Following this testing we improved the contrast of the footer, gave every dropdown and tick box a clear name and instructions, and linked error messages to the fields they relate to.

    Known limitations

    • We have not yet completed hands-on testing with the NVDA or VoiceOver screen readers. This is planned.
    • Pages other than those listed above have not yet been tested in the same depth.
    • Booking uses our own consultation request form; its date picker still needs hands-on screen reader testing.
    • Our practical guides use shared headings and links; hands-on screen reader testing of the guides is still to do.

    About this statement

    This statement was prepared on 21 October 2026 from our own testing. We will review it after screen reader testing is complete, and whenever we make significant changes to the website.
